Who am i?
My name is Oral Forrest Jr. I’m just a regular degular longtime renter in LA.
Why am i doing this?
I want more tenants to feel like they have authority over their renting. We’ve been trained to believe that we are at the mercy of a landlord, and that is simply not the case. The protections and information is there. I couldn’t find a lawyer for myself and the housing department only did so much, so I used what I learned to advocate for and protect my housing.
People don’t have time to read through and learn ordinances and laws, and now they don’t have to. I’ve done it for them. I want to point tenants in the direction of their peace, whether that ends in accountability, compensation or both. Everyday tenants should know how to rent and respond to landlords and property managers with clarity and confidence.
